Ladies, do you wonder if you struggle with hormone imbalance?

When I chat hormones with my patients in the office usually women are unsure if they have any hormonal imbalance within their body. They'll list off a number of different symptoms, which might be, painful menstrual cycles, heavy cycles, headaches, migraines, bloating, swelling, fatigue and/or constipation. These women feel that it's common we talk about then so they chalk it up to being normal to have. Let me be honest with you, the pain you are having is not normal and your pain level should be at 0. Yep, you should be walking up each day feeling good and not in pain!
So what can you do if you are having these issues? First off all you can make sure that your nervous system is balanced between the two sides (sympathetic vs parasympathetic). Adjustments, massage, acupuncture, yoga, meditation are just a few examples to help calm your nervous system and move you into the parasympathetic side.
The next step would be to look at what you are eating. It's common that people eat more unhealthy food when they feel elevated levels of stress. So cutting out or decreasing sugars should be the first goal with foods. Then increasing fermented foods and clean foods (organic veggies & grass fed meats). From there look at caffeine levels. Do you need coffee or sugary drinks to make it through the day? If so, looking at substituting regular coffee with mushroom coffee (like Four Sigmatic) is a better option. Lastly, look to increase your water! You should be drinking half your bodyweight in ounces! Say what! Yep, half your bodyweight in ounces. Add some fresh lemon to your morning water to give a little love to your liver!
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you are looking for specific ways to heal your hormones!
